What is Meteosource?

Meteosource is a weather-tech company consisting of both meteorologists and IT experts that was launched back in 2007. Meteosource has been providing professional weather data and applied modelling for multiple clients - small as well as large companies.
To deliver our accurate weather data at cost-effective prices, we have built a new service that allows you to receive weather data for each point on the globe via the easiest, most advanced weather API on the web.

What is the source of the data?

We provide data for any GPS coordinate using our proprietary machine learning model which is based on different weather models. We cooperate with other weather services around the globe as well as producing a vast amount of data by ourselves to provide services with superior accuracy and stability.

How often is data updated?

Our current data and forecasts are updated in real time to reflect the most up-to-date weather information. This is usually at least once every 10 minutes for land areas.

Can I use Meteosource's API for commercial purposes?

Yes, you can use our products and data for non-commercial or commercial purposes as long as visible credit is given to Meteosource as a weather data provider in a prominent part of your application.
The Free/Trial subscriptions are only available for non-commercial use.

How accurate are Meteosource's weather data?

We have developed cutting-edge machine learning models to deliver weather forecasts that are as accurate as possible. Find out more about our approach and how we create our AI weather forecasts.

What is the API's uptime?

We make the best effort to ensure the highest possible level of availability. Thanks to our highly scalable cloud infrastructure we are proud to have an average uptime rate of nearly 100%.

Where can I find a complete list of units for the variables used?

Please check our "Interactive documentation" in your account. Scroll down to "Responses" for an endpoint you are interested in. Here you will find two links: "Example Value" and "Schema" - when you open the Schema, you will find units for all available variables.

Plans & subscriptions

How do I get started?
You can choose from one of our generous subscriptions. If you would like to try our API first, choose either the free plan (no credit card required) or the 10-day trial of our standard plan (credit card required). Then:
  • 1) Sign up and verify your e-mail address via a confirmation link that will be sent to you
  • 2) Receive your API key and follow the steps in our interactive Documentation
How do I use my API key and what is an API request?

You can locate your API key after logging in to your account. You need to add your API key to the URL parameter to authorise a request from your application and process it appropriately.
One API request is consumed each time you call Meteosource weather API to obtain information on the weather. Pricing is based on the number of free daily API requests allowed.

What happens if I exceed my free calls limit?

You can enable/disable the ‘pay as you go’ option (see our pricing). Enabling this option will ensure you receive get API responses within your API rate limit. If the option is not activated and you reach your daily limit, requests will be denied until the rate quota resets at 00:00 UTC.

Can you customise an API to fit my needs?

We have a long experience of cooperating with corporate customers and providing them with a personalised approach. Please contact us for expanded features, configuration of API, or applied modelling.

Pricing & payment

Which payment methods are supported?

Payments can be made via credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, JCB, UnionPay, and Mada) or PayPal. Premium and high-volume customers may request annual bank transfer payments.

Is my payment secure?

All transactions made on our website are secure. We use https over the website and do not collect, store, or process any of your payment details.

Where can I find my invoice?

You can find all invoices and transaction history in the Payment section of your account. Please add your company information to display them in the invoice.

How do I unsubscribe from your service?

You can always unsubscribe or delete your account in the my account section when you log in.
